Guwahati Police’s Crime Branch, in a coordinated operation, has apprehended David as a mastermind in a widespread and sophisticated call center scam that has spanned the past two years.

Team iNSANE Esports, a renowned name in the Indian esports community, particularly in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), now faces an unexpected and potentially damaging connection to illegal call center activities. The arrest is a crucial step forward in the ongoing crackdown on these fraudulent call centers operating in the shadows of Guwahati and beyond.

This investigation has focused on a secretive network of deceitful call centers that posed as tech support providers. They employed an array of fraudulent tactics, including intrusive pop-up ads and enticing toll-free numbers, designed to convince unsuspecting victims that they were reaching out to legitimate service providers. Once they established contact, these criminals gained remote access to their victims’ devices and forced them into believing that their personal information or bank account details were at risk. This ultimately tricked them into making payments in the form of bitcoin or gift vouchers.

The law enforcement agencies launched a meticulously planned series of raids, targeting eight different locations across Guwahati, including residential premises, commercial buildings, and shopping centers. Inside, they discovered not only evidence of the elaborate scam but also several individuals, some of them young women aged between 21 and 25, who were allegedly part of the operation. Additionally, alongside these arrests, the police seized a massive amount of equipment, comprising numerous desktop and laptop computers, an array of mobile phones, and a plethora of electronic devices.

David’s arrest has startled the entire esports community. His name was synonymous with the growth and success of iNSANE Esports, and his contributions to the gaming industry were well-known.
